A good couple of days!
A brilliant few days at Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire festival. There was plenty of pressure going into the meeting, especially with Kameko who had to give away a 5lb penalty to world class horses like Benbatl but he got the job done to win the Joel Stakes. It was a brilliant performance, one of his best performances to date and I’m really happy with him.
Alcohol Free going into the race is a filly I really believed could win the Cheveley Park and she did just that. It was a big ask tackling Group 1 company on what was only her third start but she is high class and she is by a super sire in No Nay Never. I am thrilled for her owner Jeff Smith and of course Andrew that she has won a Group 1 this season, hopefully we can look forward to next year with her.
A pretty quiet start to the week but I have got the Group 1 Sun Chariot on Saturday where I ride Veracious. I won a Group 1 on her last year and it would be brilliant to go back to back. I sat on her on Saturday morning and she seems in great form so fingers crossed.
The jockeys championship has been really competitive this season with the likes of William Buick, Tom Marquand, Ben Curtis etc so I need to keep banging in the winners to keep the pressure on.
